Alaska election results: Tight race for Murkowski, Parnell Wins
Up north, candidates are awaiting election results in what looks to be an increasingly tight race between U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski and Joe Miller.
In what would surely be the biggest election upset to date, the incumbent Senator is losing to Mr. Miller 51.7 to 48.3 percent. That is the result with two-thirds of the vote counted.
And while it would certainly represent an upset, a Miller win would certainly represent a victory of former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Ms. Palin endorsed Mr. Miller in July, a move that many criticized at the time.
Alaska Governor Sean Parnell clinched his party’s nomination winning 49 percent of the vote. Scott McAdams won in the race for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate.
Ms. Palin tweeted late Tuesday that she’s “keeping fingers crossed” and “prayers upward” about the race.
