Maine Gubernatorial Election Results
Paul LePage:The Maine election results for the state’s governor are now all in. The race was extremely close between Republican Paul LePage, and Independent Eliot Cutler.
Out of the over 500,000 votes reported, Paul LePage received 215,459 (38%), while Eliot Cutler finished second with 205,583 votes (37%).
The Democratic candidate, Libby Mitchell who was trailing in the polls prior to the election by quite a lot received 107,697 votes (19%).
Paul LePage, a 62 year-old business man, and current mayor of Waterville, Maine will assume office as the state’s governor in January of 2011. He will take over for Incumbent Democrat John Baldacci, who had served as Maine’s Governor since 2003.
