Limewire Shut Down

Limewire Shut Down:Limewire Shut Down The injunction, ordered by Judge Kimba Wood, states that LimeWire “intentionally encouraged direct infringement” by its users, and that they failed to implement any “meaningful technological barriers or design choices aimed at diminishing infringement.”Lets face it, LimeWire was a disaster waiting to happen. They implemented features to notify their users that downloading unlicensed music was illegal, however, they didn’t do much enforcement beyond that. If people weren’t downloading illegally, chances are that LimeWire wouldn’t even exist.

Searle expressed his sincere thanks to the users of the software. ”Our team of technologists and music enthusiasts are creating a completely new music service that puts you back at the center of your digital music experience. ”We’ll be sharing more details about our new service and look forward to bringing it to you in the future,” he said. The case started in 2006 wherein 13 music companies filed a case against Limewire under Judge Wood and the decision last May was in their favor. However, some of the members of the National Music Publishers Association filed a separate lawsuit last June and this is the result.

But the utility of that service depends on the participation of the big music labels, and at least for now the labels are still trying to extract a big piece of Lime Group’s hide. Court hearings in the damages phase of Lime Group’s hire are scheduled to resume in January.Limewire was ordered to disable all functionalities in the current application to prevent users from sharing copyrighted material. The verdict is expected to have an unprecedented impact on the P2P file-sharing landscape.
