Graco Stroller Recall 2010
Graco Stroller Recall 2010:Voluntary safety standards for carriages and strollers were updated in 2008. This was largely in response to the 22 stroller-related deaths and the many non-fatal incidents associated with strollers that were reported to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission from 1995 to 2005.
So if we have new stroller safety standards, why did four infants die in Graco strollers that were just now recalled?
It is easier to understand when you realize that these deaths were reported to the CPSC between 2003 and 2005 and that these Graco strollers were made and/or sold between 2000 and 2007, before the latest stroller safety standards were instituted. Although there fortunately haven't been any more deaths involving these Graco strollers since 2005, it was likely the fact that there continued to be injuries that finally prompted this Graco stroller recall.
One question parents may have is why did it take so long if they knew that this was such a big problem, and even prompted the creation of new stroller safety standards?
Another big question may be how many strollers made by other manufacturers before 2008 could also have this same safety hazard?
