Wear Purple October 20:The coloring of the day tomorrow is purple. inside of a grassroots effort to raise awareness of and honor the eight homosexual teens who lately took their personal lifestyles because of homophobic abuse, Wednesday, October 20th have been declared Spirit Day.
It’s not an occasion or a rally. it is merely a way for all of us who want to display our support and love for these young men and women and their families to try and do so.
According for the group’s Facebook page, the occasion was prepared by Canadian teenager Brittany McMillan and the coloring purple selected because it represents Spirit on the LGBTQ flag.
Please put on purple on October 20th. tell your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors and schools. RIP Tyler Clementi, Asher Brown, Seth Walsh, Justin Aaberg, Eric Mohat, Meredith Rezak, Raymond Chase and Billy Lucas. You are loved.
Wearing purple may appear like a little gesture, but Tammy Aaberg, whose son Justin wiped out himself following becoming bullied at school for becoming gay, says it will go a lengthy way to assisting gay and lesbian teens recognize they are not alone plus they are loved. She will be wearing purple tomorrow as will I. Will you?
