ABC Warehouse
ABC Warehouse:Taking a cue from state attorney general applicant Richard Bernstein, ABC Warehouse founder Gordy Hartunian may be the newest regional tv commercial character to run for public office.
Gordy, as he is best recognized by Michigan tv viewers, announced his candidacy for governor at the ABC Warehouse in Farmington Hills.
“I’m not quite positive what suing insurance coverage companies has to accomplish with becoming attorney general, but he’s got a good screen presence,” Gordy said. “And if anybody wonders how an appliance salesman would make a good governor, I’ll fit it this way: if i was able to get that family members from having to huddle around that 21-inch tv and get them a amazing offer on the flat-screen in one of my commercials a number of many years ago, I’m positive I’ll be able to generate a better bargain for the people of Michigan.”
Over the years, market analysis has proven that 89 percent of television viewers have chosen ABC Warehouse more than other big box appliance suppliers at least once because of Gordy’s “likeable” and “trustworthy” persona.
“I’ve kissed a number of babies and shook arms with a couple of senior citizens in my commercials more than the years, so I guess you can say i have experienced some practice running for office,” Gordy said.
“I believe he’ll be a shoo-in,” said David Forsee, CEO of Epic-FAIL, a Lansing-based polling firm. “Nobody truly understands who Virg Bernero or Alma Wheeler Smith are, but they know Gordy and they like him.”
Considering the little number of low- and no-profile candidates running for state places of work this year, Forsee predicted that other tv pitchmen including Hanson’s CEO Brian Elias and that guy in the Mr.Alan’s commercials.
“I truly believe that guy from Mr. Alan’s would sweep any race he’d key in into,” Forsee said. “He previously features a slogan to which people truly relate, even if “two-fo-fiddy” doesn’t utilize to anything heading on in state government.”
Gordy did not reveal any priorities of his platform except to say that he’d support carry in a state spending budget that would be “the closest thing to wholesale.”
