Buster Posey

Buster Posey:Well, that’s why we watch sports, and, yes, cover sports. For this form of game, all these kinds of moments, and that form of performance.

Whether the Giants experienced won or lost tonight’s match (psst: by the way, they won), the last few innings of match four had been breathtaking and–as we all madly juggled account topics–just beautiful to behold.

I always say I love sports once the match or moment in time has significance–and dislike it intensely once the significance is exaggerated or faked–and you experienced true, raw significance dripping over each and every little bit of this game.

The Phillies knew they experienced to be successful to remain away from providing Tim Lincecum a chance to near them out tomorrow.

The Giants desperately desired to get the Phillies into that harrowing position.

The Giants went up, and you could see the Phillies reach down deep to preserve the season–which they did, with 4 runs in the fifth fourth–then the Giants (Pablo Sandoval, really?) roared back, then the Phillies re-countered, and then…

Then the bottom of the ninth, with Roy Oswalt trotting in and you knew this was special.

It was. From about the 7th inning, this match reminded me of match 2 of the Giants-Mets NLDS in 2000–the J.T. Snow homer to tie, the loss in the 10th, the see-saw…

The Giants won this version of the greatest-game-ever-at-McCoveyCove. Man, did they.
