200,000 iPhone Orders in China
China Unicom said, pre-orders have exceeded 200,000 for Apple’s iPhone 4 in China since the handset arrived into the market on Saturday. China Unicom has ceased taking online orders because of excess demand. So far about 60,000 purchasers have received their mobile phones via China Unicom. In 2009 it took about 6 weeks to sell 100,000 iPhone 3GS handsets.
China Unicom is providing iPhone 4 over a two 12 months subscription contract and also Apple retail industry stores in China. China is the largest cellular phone market with more than 800 million subscribers within the world.
China Telecom Corp Ltd and China cellular Ltd are the competitors for China Unicom and is the sole distributor for Apple’s iPhone within the country. according to China Unicom, sales of earlier generations of the iPhone have been slow because of its high price.
