Boardwalk Empire Review:HBO's highly anticipated series "Boardwalk Empire" debuted last evening at 9:00 and did not disappoint.

The pilot episode, directed by Martin Scorcese was gripping, intense, and at occasions wickedly funny.

Steve Buscemi, who portrays Atlantic city political boss and racketeer Enoch "Nucky" Johnson carries the display much like James Gandolfini in the Sopranos and Ian McShane in Deadwood. if you were a fan of the Sopranos and Deadwood, then Boardwalk Empire is just the display for you.

Boardwalk Empire's story focuses on Atlantic city just when Prohibition goes into impact in 1920. In one of the first scenes of the show, Nucky Thompson and his cronies cheer the impending prohibition like it's a treat from your Gods. one of Johnson's cronies asks who will spend $3 for any drink? And, Thompson aptly responds, "you will!"

Alas, Johnson is ready to reap the rewards of Prohibition, that will serve to vastly inflate the selling price of alcohol. Cha-ching!

The display also centers close to the character Jimmy Darmody (played by Michael Pitt) who is a struggling youthful man trying to rise up via the ranks of organized crime in AC. available for you mafia background buffs, a youthful Al Capone can also be featured in the show. He and Darmody strike a chord and do a profession collectively appropriate off the bat. even more on in the show, Thompson meets with lucky Luciano and strikes a deal for weekly products of booze.
