Dangerous Earl in East Coast
Outer Banks were hit by Hurricane Earl which caused powerful winds and rain late Thursday. Hurricane caused major disruptions and damage as the massive storm swept throughout the coastline.
Hurricane Earl was degraded to category 2 and winds also weakened from 140 mph to 105 mph, and there were expectations that it could ease further since it crossed cooler water in North Carolina coast. But Earl was still strong enough to cause destruction according to the officials. “It’s still a major hurricane. It’s nothing to sneeze at,” said David Feltgen of the National Hurricane Center in Miami on Thursday afternoon. “It’s going to be a bad night.”
Residents of Outer Banks town were patrolling the shoreline and children were scared to wade in choppy water. But they started to desert the beach once the wind picked up and it started to rain.
