Goshen Fair 98th edition – great for charities
Goshen Fair 98th edition was all what charities needed to fund their activities for the whole year.
If Saturday was an indication of what’s to come today and Monday, Post 46 is on target to rake in some serious cash. Post members and some volunteers manned the post’s food booth near the fairgrounds entrance and were kept hopping by a constant parade of customers on a bright and breezy day.
“We do one thing at the fair and we do it right,” Post 46 Commander Ed Wright said. “The money we make will carry us through the year.”
Post 46 funds scholarships, donates clothing to state veterans hospitals, plants new flags each year at the graves of Goshen veterans, and holds veterans recognition programs. It also has an active Ladies Auxiliary that works to benefit the community. Wright said the post will cook 800 pounds of hamburgers and 400 pounds of hot dogs over the weekend. A few burgers and dogs were cooked by Democratic gubernatorial candidate Dan Malloy, who stopped in during his campaign visit to the fairgrounds.
