Samsung To Compete With Apple with Its Tablet
First tablet computer from Samsung, Galaxy Tab will be available in market in two weeks. It would put Samsung directly in competition with Apple Inc’s iPad. Along with Samsung, handset makers like Nokia, LG, HP Co. are moving into new category of devices lately.
Last month Dell Inc said, it was launching its new tablet device. According to the head of marketing at Samsung mobile, YH Lee, there is huge potential for this kind of product. Galaxy tab comes with 7 inch screen and it will be in European markets from mid-September. The device used Google Android software and offers access to books, movies and music.
Research director at CCS Insight said, “Samsung is betting big on the tablet category with this device.” He also added the success of Galaxy Tab will depend on pricing. According to the portfolio managing director of Samsung, pricing will depend on operator packages in different countries and it would cost more than smartphones.
