Apple Event September 2010:Apple has thrown a challenge Facebook and Twitter with the launch of a new social networking service designed specifically for music lovers.

“So we’ve run Ping – a social network, which is all about music. It’s like Facebook and Twitter Meets ITunes. You can follow your favorite artists and friends and find out what music they like and download.”
Jobs also introduced a compact new Apple TV set-top box, a little more than a drink coaster that can “flow” of content such as music, movies and television shows from the internet directly on your TV screen.
Jobs, who had previously rejected for the Apple TV as a “hobby”, acknowledged that, although loved the device, it is only sold in modest numbers,
He said that the company listened to feedback from users about what they want from the console, as well as reviewed the device to meet those needs.
“They want on-demand access to Hollywood movies and TV shows, they do not want an amateur stuff,” he said. “They want their movies and TV shows in high definition, and you want to pay less for this content.
“And they do not want the computer to television – although it’s hard for people, one in the computer industry to understand. And they do not want to manage storage of downloaded movies and programs.”
The new model TV, Apple will allow users to “rent” movies and television shows for a modest fee, with a high-definition movies available on the day of release DVD for $ 4.99 and television programs 99C. The device itself will cost $ 99 – around $ 200 less than its predecessor – although Apple has not released details of pricing, UK.
Jobs also used the annual September press conference, Apple, to show the new look Ipods, including the lower quad Ipod Shuffle with buttons and a tiny Ipod Nano is controlled through the touch screen.
