UFC 118 RESULTS: EDGAR REPEATS AND COUTURE DOMINATES

If there was ever any uncertainty as to whether or not he truly deserved the victory the first time, UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar made sure to leave no doubt the second time around, thoroughly dominating each and every round of his highly-anticipated rematch with former champion BJ Penn. Plus, UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture proved that a boxer with only 9 months of MMA training is no match for a seasoned Octagon veteran. Check out all the results from UFC 118.

FRANKIE EDGAR VS. BJ PENN

Both fighters picked up right where they left off as the rematch looked like a continuation of the first fight. Still unable to solve the riddle of Edgar's footwork, Penn found it extremely difficult to cut off the ring and prevent Edgar from outworking him in the stand-up. At times, Penn looked like an older fighter inside the Octagon. Reduced to throwing just 1 or 2 punches at a time, Penn appeared to be hoping to land that one knockout punch.

On the other hand, Edgar consistently beat Penn to the punch, firing off 3 and 4-punch combinations and putting rounds in the bank as he outhustled Penn. The one minor difference in the rematch, and what came as a shock to most oberservers, was the ease at which Egar was able to secure takedown after takedown on Penn. Able to control the action on the ground and on the feet, Edgar made it look easy against the best lightweight ever in the history of the UFC.

This time around, there's no denying that Frankie Edgar is the better fighter. All three judges scored the bout 50-45, further illustrating the dominant performance of the UFC lightweight champion.

RANDY COUTURE VS. JAMES TONEY

Well, the fight went pretty much went as everyone expected...Couture takes him down, softens him up with some ground and pound and then locks in the arm triangle submission. Simple as that! Toney never even had a shot as Couture immediately shot in for a takedown, one that he easily got when Toney simply tripped and fell on his butt without even throwing one single punch. As soon as the fight got to the ground, Toney looked like a fish out of water as Couture easily secured the mount and rained down a few shots before locking in a deep arm triangle that would force Toney to "wave out", frantically waving his hands to the referee to indicate he had had enough.
