Today, Colombians celebrate its 200th anniversary of its independence. Colombian Independence Day celebrations will take place in many parts of the U.S..

Congratulating the South American country on behalf of the U.S., Hillary Clinton, wrote:

"On behalf of the United States Government and the American people, I extend my warmest congratulations to the people of Colombia and to celebrate its one hundred ninety-ninth anniversary of independence. I really hope that the" Flight to Freedom "show balloon hot air over the pride inspired by Bogota among all Colombians by the extraordinary courage and dedication they have shown in putting their country on the path of stability and success.

The United States is a good friend and ally of Colombia. Our nations share a rich history rooted in democracy, the rule of law, and freedom.
