NYS Unemployment Rate Drops, Unemployment Benefits Affected

The unemployment rate in New York State has been reduced according to the latest issue published by the Department of Labor NYS. And while this may seem like good news at first, the current level of unemployment in the state that puts 8.5% below the average of three months set by the federal government to provide an extension of six weeks of benefits Emergency Unemployment Compensation (CSE) to Level 4.

In other words, unemployed New Yorkers will now receive 93 weeks of unemployment rather than covering the 99 to be expected when the unemployment rate was higher state of New York. Since the bill provides benefits will end the week of December 5, many unemployed New Yorkers will not reach the 93 weeks.

The U.S. Department of Labor said that from August 16, no new applications can be submitted for Level 4 benefits.
