Tropical Storm Bonnie

The National Hurricane Center reported that Tropical Storm Bonnie is making landfall in Biscayne Bay, South Florida with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph was moving west-northwest.

The rain is expected to be 3 inches in southern Florida, with some areas reaching 5 inches. A tropical storm warning was issued at 11 am EDT in the northwestern Bahamas, Destin, FL to Morgan City, Louisiana. And the Florida coast eastward from Deerfield Beach northward to Englewood.

The tropical storm is already damaging the cleanup efforts in the Gulf of Mexico, and although the storm wakes, Commandant Thad Allen said efforts will be stopped for 48 hours, waiting for the storm to pass. He said he was confident that the cover remains the weather. Yesterday, he ordered the ships to return to land due to the storm.

No one can predict what will happen, but there are fears that the storm will spread the oil spill at sea or on land.
